UDK Update Part 3 - June Challenge #14

Decided to spread out the work loads for our Final Year Project today. Even though I know that everyone else is probably doing their own thing over the entire summer and won't be able to pick up the work at this point, but I felt like making it clear what needed to be done. Work is divided into three categories like so:

  • Map & Level Design: Actually drawing up the maps, learning a lot about 3d graphics included in UDK and using Unreal Kismet to set everything in place.

<Requires overall knowledge of how all the codes work and how to apply it in particular maps, Kismet Programming, Possibly 3D animation program like Maya or 3Ds max>

  • Player and Bot Programming: Researching how to create 2D player and bots in our 3D environment and efficiently programming the bots to work well in side-scrolling platform.

<Requires a shitload of OOP Programming in Unreal Script>

  • UI and HUD Programming: Designing the user interfaces including our Main Menu, Pause Menu and Loading screen. Programming the correct Sequence Events that call them up accordingly. Plus, the on screen Head-Up Display that appear in game.

<Requires creating all such contents in Scaleform and perhaps Adobe Flash>

This is meant for our current three members of the team. I have a general idea that I want to be doing the second task here which is Player and Bot programming because I feel that it will challenge me the most. However, the best programmer on the team right now in my opinion is Genio so I want to see how he can manage with that, given he won't be too busy with his current job at Ribose. Melkar said that he's learning the project at the moment as well, so I'll have to wait for everyone's answer on this.
