Gotta be honest here that I didn't do a lot of Unreal Development ever since the break started since I have been enjoying break too much. It's like everyone is conspiring against my get in shape plan because the more I try the more people are setting up dinners outside in expensive restaurants with delicious food.
So far, I have discovered more of Unreal Engine's capabilities. Its graphics are not as high as CryEngine which of course is not an issue for me since I plan to do everything from my Acer laptop. Unreal Engine runs perfectly fine on my laptop so I have down my fooling around with the UDK editor and created a few basic stuff. No yet designed a whole level since the art-form for the platform is unclear. Our Final Year Project supervisor did not specify any boundaries for this project so it is up for us as group members to decide the direction. I chose Unreal Engine for two main reasons, one is the abundant resources online which we could study plus friends' experience which they can pass on, and the other is... Dishonored, Bioshock and Mass Effect. Three of my favorite games this past year were created using this engine. Of course that would be something to aspire to but it is important to take a step back and look at the fact that these development teams are usually consisted of 50 people with 2 working years per game at least.
It's going to be fun, both the process and the outcome.
