Once upon a melancholy

T'is but a blog about the current beings of the world, the Web and the once sad but now not state of mind of a single individual Aekasitt Guruvanich.

This fellow whose name originated from the Sanskrit roots:
एक [ éka ] :  Alone, solitary, single, happening only once, that one only
सिध् [ sidh ] : To be accomplished or fulfilled or effected or settled , be successful , succeed

is a happy go lucky man.

He traveled long and far to escape from a certain responsibility that everyone must face. A debt all men pay; job hunt. How does this hero with no super power, much like Batman minus the money, the butler and the swag, defeat this impending doom? He should probably stop blogging and go back to work, but he chooses not to.

Along came a bright light that shined bright through the plight of slight weight plaguing the state of late morning snoring making it a bore with no awe from all these chores before my eyes that are both tired from applying mathematical knowledge into the abyssal of work with no perks, no joy; such a void.

Self Reflection Time - Leadership 101

"Leadership is Social Influence. It means leaving a mark. It is initiating and guiding, and the result is change. The product is a new character or direction that otherwise would never be. By their ideas and deeds, leaders show the way and influence the behavior of others." - The Art Of Leadership by George Manning and Kent Curtis.

One of the key to lead others is to have a vision that sees what others cannot. Visionary leaders are the ones who change the world. Their ideas maybe simple, but their actions reach far and wide.

What kind of leader do you want to be?

Last day - June Challenge #30

Not going to go out with a bang because that's overrated. Last 30 days have been fun blogging, especially the part when I make sure not to waste my time too much. Missed out on 2 days, but I'll do better next time.

Android Update Part 2 - June Challenge #29

Been working on all of the Android labs in Embedded Systems Software class which I never enrolled in and it has been fun. This of course is done in the spare time which I am not playing Syndicate or Skyrim. The labs are straightforward as it should be and it presents many features of Android applications. I used to have negative feedback for this professor after I went to his workshop last year, now I feel like this year's resources have been greatly improved and he deserves a lot more credits than I gave him. That is all.

Programmers - June Challenge #28

"I read about it," said Samwell, but his friends retorted before he could finish that sentence.

"Yeah yeah we know. You read about it from a very old book."

That was one of very unremarkable scene from Game of Thrones series that I have been watching. I found it astonishing that every book mentioned in the series had much value to it while every time I visit the book store nowadays, I find books about every useless thing. Aisles and aisles of cookbooks with the same recipe, translated youth fictions about vampires and dragons, books teaching you how to be rich as if it could be taught, self-help books all teaching you to believe in yourself, I find them all borderline useless. Yes, of course, I find books that I am looking for every now and then and I understand that different people have different tastes. I still do love reading books much more than other media as a form of learning, though my university professors seem to prefer Powerpoint slides. It occurs to me that these books are there to be sold, not to educate. Back in time, when the population barely know how to read, authors were scholars, men and women of wisdom writing books on the sole purpose of passing on their gathered knowledge. Though the entire population were not a big fan of those books then, they never cease to stop serving their purposes.

Today when the population know their letters, and are much or less eloquent enough for casual readings, they do nothing but. On the other hand, not a lot of people know how to program. Not a lot of people understand programs either. Programs are interacted with all the time, but never to be understood by the general public. As arrogant as it may sound, programmers are the 21st century scholar arranging language features into place to serve a purpose. Years from now when everyone is to required to know a programming language, our programs are the ones they will paraphrase.

More often than naught, men and women fluent in many languages are more open to higher learning. They were the advisers of kings and rulers. They are surely not the same as the people who write stories encouraging teenage girls to love blood sucking creatures. And programmers of today will rise up to do the same. I find that fascinating!

Slacking over 9000 - June Challenge #27

There it comes. I knew it would one day, but it finally came. A day with zero effort in doing anything. It happens in a lot of summers, but I really hoped it would not happen this summer. I'm a slacker.

So I need to do something, change up a little bit before I slack off throughout my summer. I ended up sending my resumes to a bunch of companies in Hong Kong today. Too little, too late it may be, it is something. And my brother whose birthday was yesterday, still has been pushing me to apply in Bangkok as well. What is there to do in Bangkok I wonder?

Reading - June Challenge #26

I'm the fucking slowest reader in the world especially since I literally just dozed off after reading 50 pages of "All Quiet on the Northern Front" again today. It felt good though just by reading something you really enjoy again. Even though the book really is such a downer, but it is a great book. The descriptions of scenery in the book is well done and everything you can possibly learn about war from a book, is offered.

My next book would be The Picture of Dorian Gray which is waiting there right next to my bed. Hope I don't doze off reading that one either.
